Position Description
Safely performs journeyman level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
* Performs work related to painting and finishes of interior and exterior walls as required for light construction projects and a general maintenance schedule.
* Carries out oral and written instructions to perform related work as directed or required by direct supervisor.
* Secures necessary supplies and materials from Stores as required for completion of work orders and required tasks and/or directives.
* Documents and records work accomplished, time expended, and parts used on appropriate forms and in the CMMS work order system.
* Initiates work orders through Work Control for any building systems that are found to be deficient.

Schedule Details
Monday thru Friday 8 to 5. On-Call As Needed / Required.

Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) Years experience in applying drywall finishes.  Skilled in the use of the tools, materials and equipment used in the carpentry trade.  Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices of building maintenance and light construction associated with the drywall trade.

Occasional Duties
* Performs any and all duties deemed necessary by any supervisory level Plant Operations personnel.
* Perform on-call duties as required and deemed necessary as essential personnel of the institution and at the direction of the institution.
* Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Drivers License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier.  Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check.  Must be able to operate State Vehicles as necessary to pick up parts or drive to job sites.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyman.
