Performs supervisory and participatory work in the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures. Responsibilities include the supervision of a work crew involved in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of equipment, furnishings, and various other structures and fixtures. Duties also include the actual hands-on work in this area. Work is performed under the general supervision of the foreman with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise other assigned workers.
Service and repair: air handling units, pumping equipment, pneumatic and electronic controls (i.e.) valves, damper, frequency drives, DDC, thermostats, and humidistats. Making sure the above is operating effectively and efficiently. Other assignments as deemed necessary by supervision and/or Sr. Director. Assumes lead role in the absence of the foreman, in regard to HVAC systems.
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Two years experience as a licensed journeyman in designated trade; or five years related experience. Job-related vocational training or education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Applicant should have at least two years training or four years experience in the HVAC field, preferably commercial systems. Knowledge should include: pneumatic controls, air-handling systems, exhaust equipment, refrigeration repair, steam, and all types of hydronic heating and cooling. Ability to read and follow blue prints, schematics and other relevant documentation. Ability to do research and learn new systems.
