Major/Essential Functions
The Senior Writer will work under the direction of the Director of Policy and Planning to develop technical documentation related to procedures for various functions.
 
In addition, the Senior Writer will assist with IT policy creation, modification, and maintenance.
 
Additional responsibilities include maintaining a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation, analyzing documents to maintain continuity of style of content, and managing updates and revisions to technical literature.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in English, Professional Writing, Technical Communication, or equivalent
 
Experience in researching and creating documentation for IT compliance activities, including vulnerability management, Texas Statutes, HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, DMCA, GDPR, Copyright, Privacy, PCIDSS, eDiscovery, breach notification, etc.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, Professional Writing, Technical Communication, or equivalent and relevant working experience as a Technical Writer. 

Experience in creating standard operating procedures and policies. 

Experience in creating, editing, redlining and formatting documents to create high-quality documentation as a member of a team or independently.

Skilled at organizing and translating information into clear written documentation.

Skilled at articulating complex concepts and processes in writing.

Ability to work on multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a highly agile environment.

Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills.

Experience using style guides such as Microsoft Manual of Style, Chicago Manual of Style and Departmental Style Guides.

Experience with a web-based content management system.

Powerful communicator with the ability to engage and interact with technical and managerial personnel across the organization.

Strong desire to learn and contribute solutions and ideas.

Intermediate user of Microsoft Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint.
