Position Description
Performs semi-professional work on various projects and programs. Work is performed under supervision within established policies with latitude for independent judgment. Employee performance is based upon a review of completed work and overall results obtained. May supervise specialized clerical section.

Major/Essential Functions
Assists in the supervision of student assistants (8-12). Assists with organizing the various evening and weekends work responsibilities which include the circulation and stacks areas. This position requires someone who is accountable and able to organize and maintain a busy schedule as this department is in heavy demand most of the time. Also, this person must exhibit problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Knowledge of computer operations, manual dexterity, and the ability to understand and execute automated circulation programs.
2. Ability to plan and organize work loads and to assist in the supervision of 8-12 student assistants.
3. Ability to use discretion, good judgment and initiative in various work situations, including independent decisions under guidance of the Unit Manager.
4. Ability to establish good rapport between departmental personnel and patrons.
5. Typing proficiency of 40 wpm. or more and work accurately with figures and numbers.
6. Ability to carry out the circulation policies as they relate to various departments of the Library and the patrons.
7. Ability to assess security issues and take appropriate actions, to ensure the safety of library patrons and library materials.
