Responsible for writing grant/technical/proposals assigned by the Administration and Faculty. These proposals, requesting contributions, are submitted to individuals, corporations, foundations, and governmental entities. Responsibilities include assignments from, as well as, coordinating the efforts of faculty and staff to produce high-quality grants proposals.
Work under the direction of the IT Director of Policy and Planning to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation related to policies and procedures. Work closely with the Information Security Officer ISO and IT Security team to gather technical information related to applicable information security research and security controls.
Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation, analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content, and manage updates and revisions to technical literature.
Work independently and in a cross-functional team setting while utilizing excellent oral and written communication skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, with an understanding of project management and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Utilize skills of organizing and translating complex concepts and information into clearly-written documentation.
Work on multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a highly agile environment.
Minimum Hire Rate
Salary commensurate with related education, experience and/or skills.
Master's degree in English, Professional Writing, Technical Communication, or the equivalent.
General knowledge of information technology and information security environments.
Experience using style guides such as the Microsoft Manual of Style and Chicago Manual of Style.
Intermediate user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Experience with a web-based content/document management system.
Powerful communicator with the ability to engage and interact with technical and managerial personnel across the organization.
Experience researching and creating documentation for IT compliance activities. Knowledge of Texas IT legislation/statutes, NIST 800-53 and 800-171, HIPAA, FERPA, GDPR, and PCI DSS.

Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related field. Four years experience in proposal/technical writing. Education and experience can exchange on a year-for-year basis.
