Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

Major/Essential Functions
Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators in individual schools and across the institution to ensure compliance with the state and federal regulations and regional accreditation requirements related to distance education and promote the continuous improvement of teaching and learning in online and hybrid courses at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
  • Work with school representatives to ensure compliance with state authorization requirements including application submission of renewal for institutional participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA).
  • Work with school representatives and institutional administrators to ensure compliance with distance education requirements by key external agencies.  Maintain current understanding of the distance education requirements of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).  Offer consultative advice to faculty and staff regarding development of new and/or modification of existing distance education programs.  
  • Coordinate the verification of online and hybrid courses based on the TTUHSC Principles of Good Practice for Online and Hybrid Courses on an annual basis.  
  • Offer professional development opportunities to enhance faculty knowledge and application of effective teaching practices in distance education with regular workshops and/or seminars using a variety of instructional methods.  
  • Develop and maintain a website for distance education at TTUHSC with appropriate content to meet the needs of prospective and current students and offer relevant resources to faculty teaching online and hybrid courses.
  • Represent TTUHSC on committees related to distance education with regular attendance.  Communicate relevant information to committee members during the meetings.
  • Fulfill administrative functions of operating a small department including but not limited to budget development/management and planning/evaluation activities and meeting related deadlines in a timely and professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree is required.  Doctorate is preferred.  Degree should be in instructional design or a related field from a regionally accredited college/university.  Must have experience developing and teaching online courses.

Required Qualifications
