Position Description
Coordinates a section in a department that has institutional oversight responsibilities. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program or departmental project as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and/or students.

Major/Essential Functions
  1. In collaboration with Clinic Leadership, identifies, plans and coordinates implementation of strategies to improve clinic flow/operations and enhance patient satisfaction with their experience in the clinic.
  2. Planning/evaluation activities and meeting related deadlines in a timely and professional manner.
  3. Performs investigations of patient complaints and generates documentation per clinic and organizational policies. Responds to/resolves complaints related to patient care or treatment issues by communication with patient, clinic staff, and physicians as appropriate.
  4. Participates in all department and HSC committee meetings as assigned.
  5. Works under general supervision with board latitude for initiative and independent judgment and evaluation based on the overall results obtained.
  6. Coordinates department's approach. Inspects designated areas in department to ensure compliance with clinic 5S standards. Provides training for new employees and department area 5S designee to ensure understanding of 5s standards. Proactively communicates with Administrator regarding opportunities to enhance utilization of 5S approach.
  7. Monitors and completes performance evaluations in a fair and timely manner of all subordinate staff.
  8. Effectively performs personnel tasks including hiring, counseling, and disciplining staff as appropriate for all locations of Otolaryngology departments.
  9. Ensures awareness and attendance records are completed accurately and maintained.
  10. Assures time and attendance records are completed accurately and maintained.
  11. Ensures appropriate staffing schedules to accommodate Clinic needs in Otolaryngology.
  12. Effectively coordinates staffing schedules to accommodate Clinic needs in Otolaryngology.
  13. Communicates professionally and effectively with Department Management Team (Chair, Medical Director, Administrator, Nurse Manager, etc.) regarding patient, staff. and Physician issues, clinic needs. Ensures access to educational programs for staff, patients, and physicians.
  14. Makes continuous efforts to ensure cost-effective, efficient operations.
  15. Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality in all matter relating to the clinic, its employees and patients.
  16. Other duties as Assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
General skills with excel, outlook, fax machine, typing (35 wpm) and 10-key touch. Knowledge of medical insurance carriers and financially assisted government programs. Effective communication skills. Ability to interact in a positive manner with others, and able to handle a high stress environment. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs

Pay Statement
