Major/Essential Functions
  • Significant expertise within vivo and  in vitro screening and validation assays in cancer immunotherapy is required; in vivo expertise with tumor xenograft and murine syngeneic tumor models would be desirable. Hands-on experience with tumor cell inoculation, animal dosing, tissue collection, tumor measurements and data recording. Experience with a variety of in-vivo and ex-vivo models of various diseases specific focus on cancer immunotherapy is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in T cell biology, preferentially effector and/or Regulatory T cells, is required.
  • Proficiency in animal welfare and overall knowledge of federal guidelines for animal care and use. Prepare protocols and annual reports for IACUC revision and implementing new techniques, write technical procedures, study protocols, SOPs, reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals. Possess a sound background in GLP compliance and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Expertise and extensive hands on experience in vivo techniques (rodent handling, drug administration, blood collection, restraint, anesthesia, euthanasia, clinical observations, small animal surgeries, animal tissue processing) in common in vivo models. Expertise in biochemical pharmacology (PK/PD) and in in vivo drug testing for preclinical trials. Dosage administration (IP, IV, SC, PO, IM), and drug formulation. Irradiation and engraftment of mice with bone marrow / stem cell populations.
  • Expertise and hands on experience in oncology, immunology and various techniques, including flow cytometry, experience with Flow Cytometry assays to measure cell phenotypes and functional changes, design FACS panels and perform FACS analysis on human cells and murine cells - to investigate immune cell subsets from various organs and tumors,
     immune-based, cell-based, in vitro cellular and biochemical assays, immunofluorescence staining. IHC, ELISA assay development, protein and molecular biology techniques.
  • Provide broad expertise in T cell immunology including the development and consistent application of immunoassays (e.g. ELISpot, flow cytometry, T cell cytotoxicity, and multiplex cytokine analysis.
  • Substantial experience in multi-color flow cytometry required. Experience in cell sorting, or RNA interference technologies of advantage.
  • Demonstrated expertise with antibiotic-free isolation, culture, and genetic manipulation of primary immune cells for advanced assays including mixed-cell in vitro systems and multifactorial readouts, e.g., phenotypic changes, proliferation, activation, target cell killing and production of soluble factors. Proficiency in a variety of molecular biology methods, including cloning, expression analysis, and next-generation DNA/RNA sequencing.
  • Experience to isolate and characterize the primary immune cells from murine tissues, blood and human blood including FACS methods, cell sorting analysis and interpretation the data. Cell-based assays, cytotoxicity, cell proliferation assays, cytokine profiling,
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture techniques (primary cells and cell lines), co-cultures, and T-cell functional assays.  Expertise with cell-based assay techniques including ELISA, biomarker/bioanalytical assays, cytotoxicity assays,  cytokine analysis, immunoprecipitation, Western, cell imaging, cell cycle, apoptosis and, expertise  in molecular biology techniques (molecular cloning, transient and stable gene silencing, PCR, qPCR,), biochemical assays, and characterization of cell function and phenotype, including flow cytometry, imaging, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence staining

Occasional Duties
  • Demonstrated excellence in molecular biology and immunological techniques and extensive hands-on experience in isolation, culture, and characterization of primary immune cells from human and animal tissues
  • Hands on experience in designing and developing immunological assays for human and mouse serum/plasma and cell samples. Expertise in cell culture and functional assays.
  • Experience in biomarkers identification for  various disease in patients and animal models leveraging ELISA, Multiplexed Bead-Based Immunoassays, cell based assays, FC, Western Blotting, qPCR and IF, IHC
  • Extensive cell-based and biochemical assay development experience with a variety of readouts including proliferation, activation, migration, etc. Extensive hands-on experience in isolation, culture, and characterization of primary immune cells from human and animal tissues is required.
  • Research experience in multiple diseases and/or cancer immunotherapy is required.
  • Familiarity with biological processes, particularly related to the growth and survival of cancer cells.  Good knowledge of the appropriate handling techniques for primary cells, especially from patient samples.  Experience with cell-based assays that measure growth, differentiation, and signal transduction.  
  • Multi-tasking, team player, ability to work independently / collaboratively in matrix environment and enjoy working in an environment. Excellent written and oral communication and intrapersonal skills required

Required Qualifications
PhD with more than 10 years research experience.

Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held.
