Major/Essential Functions

Responsible for conducting research on microRNAs, NextGen-RNA-seq and DNA damage in neurodegenerative diseases. This position is funded by grants from National Institutes of Health. He/she will be responsible for investigating long noncoding RNAs, microRNAs, messenger and circular RNAs in cell and mouse models of aging and neurodegenerative diseases and autopsy tissues from patients with neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, he/she will be responsible for molecular and bioinformatics aspects of NextGen-RNA-seq, DNA damage and blood-based protein assays. He/she will also be responsible for characterizing for synaptic, Abeta and phosphorylated tau pathologies, mitochondrial dynamics, mitochondrial biogenesis and mitophagy in tissues from mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases.

In addition, he/she will be responsible for conducting cognitive behavior of transgenic and knockout/knockin mouse models of aging and neurodegenerative diseases. He/she will be responsible for supervising research assistants, graduate students and interns in the lab.

In addition, he/she will be responsible for writing independent NIH and other grants, and also assisting Dr. Reddy for the preparation of Program Project Proposals and/or Center grants on aging and age-related diseases.
