Major/Essential Functions
Candidate is expected to work on a recently funded drug discovery project ‘Small Molecules as Therapeutics Drugs for Alzheimer’s Disease’ in multiple mouse models of Aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Duties are to assess the behavioral phenotype of mouse models and to also characterize synapses, mitochondrial and amyloid beta/tau pathologies in treated and untreated lines of mice with mitochondrial drugs. Candidate is expected to supervise lab staff, including interns, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and also extensively involved with organizing training programs, symposia, journal clubs and research seminars. Candidate is expected to assist Dr. Reddy with 'Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Activities'.

Required Qualifications

A doctoral degree with 3-4 years of research experience in neuroscience, cell biology, biochemistry and pharmacology.

Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate's intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.
