Major/Essential Functions
The broad area of research in our laboratory includes endothelial cell dysfunction, oxidative stress and apoptosis, hyperoxia-induced lung injury, cardiac preconditioning, and cardiovascular biology. Candidates for postdoctoral position will have proven record of experience in molecular biology skills such as real time PCR analysis, cloning, reporter assays and cellular transfection studies are desirable. The ideal candidate will have outstanding publication record in the graduate or post-doctoral training period, and demonstrated skills in biochemistry and molecular biology. Postdoctoral  fellow will work in the area of investigation that includes lung biochemistry, molecular biology and mitochondrial biology in lung injury and repair. His/her duty will include performing small animal surgery, such as isolation of coronary artery and mesenteric arteries in mouse models and myocyte isolation from adult mouse heart.  He/she will conduct experiments using isolated/cultured cells and isolated lung and heart and study cellular signaling cascades, cell-cell interactions using real time PCR analysis, cloning, reporter assays and confocal microscopy. Selected candidates will work without supervision, analyze data, maintain accurate experimental record and write manuscript for publication. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives based on project knowledge is a plus. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other research personnel and working in a team environment is expected.

Required Qualifications
PhD degree is required.
