Position Description
The Programmer Analyst III's role is to develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of business requirements. This position will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle. Additionally, the Programmer Analyst III is also responsible for supervising and/or leading the development of new systems, directing changes to existing systems and controlling the interfaces between the systems, initiating complex feasibility studies and making recommendations of the action to be taken.

Major/Essential Functions

Responsible for supervising the development of new systems, directing changes to existing systems and

controlling the interfaces between the systems; initiates complex feasibility studies and makes

recommendations of the action to be taken. Performs responsible work in the preparation, testing,

implementation, and evaluation of programs for use on electronic computers and electronic devices. Duties

consist of writing, analyzing and maintaining documents, and consulting with computer users in the area of

data retrieval, statistical analysis, error message interpretation and analysis, job control language and

program sets, converts and modifies programs to be compatible with current operating system and user

requirements. Develop and implement application training sessions as needed for applications used with in

the school. Work with applications that are used and administered by accrediting bodies. Will serve as the

liaison for third party applications and work with departmental staff as needed. Work is performed under

general supervision with evaluation of job performance based upon accuracy and timely completion of

assigned work. Design, program, test, document, and maintain web-based computer systems in the Office

of Curriculum for curriculum management and evaluation. Design, program, test, document and implement

computer-based technology aspects of the curriculum under the direction of the Associate Dean for

Academic Affairs. Will assume administrative duties as needed in the absence of the Sr. Director for

Educational Technology.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus one (1) year

related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal five (5)

years.

Occasional Duties

Provide training and support for users on new and existing computer-based aspects of curriculum. Serve as a trainer for learning management system, evaluation systems, and other applications used as part of the School of Medicine's curriculum.  Serves as a backup for processing video recording of lectures.  Assist in setting up and tearing down laptops for exams.  Maintaining laptops as needed.  Ad hoc assignments as needed.
