Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides medical education to medical students/residents
  • Participates in research activities and/or projects
  • Performs a wide variety of pediatric surgical procedures
  • Provides in-patient and out-patient care
  • Takes on-call, as scheduled
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Statement of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications
  • Board certification in general surgery and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery
  • Strong work ethic and good team player
  • Experience in teaching students and residents
  • Experience in conducting research and publishing scientific reports
  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for associate professor or higher rank

Required Qualifications
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • M.D. or D.O.
  • Successful completion of ACGME accredited residency training in General Surgery
  • Successful completion of ACGME accredited fellowship training in Pediatric Surgery
  • Texas Medical License or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas
