Position Description
Assures smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serves as the initial point of contact for patients. Responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Most work is performed according to established procedures; problems of an unusual nature are referred to supervisor. Employees in this classification have no delegated supervisory responsibilities. Work is performed in usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, HSC staff, and insurance companies. Employees have cash handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Providing excellent customer service to anyone that calls or walks into the clinic
  • Maintain daily schedules: check for funding sources, deductibles, payment history, balances on accounts, and calculate self pay discount
  • Assist patients to find funding when needed
  • Educate PSS, nurses and providers on insurance benefits and funding
  • Counsel patients on insurance benefits
  • Assist with referral logging, distribution and scheduling as needed
  • Assist with worker's compensation referrals and authorizations as needed
  • Assist with testing and surgery authorizations as needed
  • Proactively assist other staff and providers as needed
  • Assist the front PSS Staff as needed

Required Qualifications
