Position Description

This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions
Respond to patient Inquiries.
Greets all patients with a smile, and a beyond service attitude.
Follow up with patients regarding insurance verification as needed.
Obtain referrals/Verify insurance as needed.
Helps with bumps and reschedules as needed.
Checks patient in and out. Schedules follow up appointments as needed.
Collects deposits, copay's, patient balances.
Fills in for other patient service specialist when needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
DEVELOPMENT: Serves as a Mentor and promotes, assesses, and evaluates the educational needs and requirements specific to job disciplines of your staff and self within your departmental assignment.
Works Previsit ETM in centricity. Preworks clinic schedules in check in systems to make sure we have all documents, insurance information, and payments.

Preferred Qualifications
Typing, ability to interact effectively with others, ability to work in a busy environment, ability to understand and carry
out instructions, familiarity with medical procedures and computers, ability to communicate effectively with a variety of
people and ability to use a calculator. Good understanding of the referral/managed care process, exception customer
service skills, great attention to detail, must be a self starter.

Required Qualifications

A High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
