Position Description
Employees in this position are responsible for the maintenance of patient billing accounts and performing numerous related functions to accomplish this task; such as, patient registration, insurance follow-up, financial screening of unfunded patients, answering patient billing inquiries, collection of unpaid balances and posting of payments.

Major/Essential Functions
This position is primarily responsible for ensuring patient and insurance credits are reviewed and processed in the Centricity system. The essential duties of this position include resolving patient, insurance and cashier suspense credits. They will research credits on accounts to determine if the money should be moved to pay other invoices on the account, if a posting correction is needed, or if a refund is due to the patient or insurance company. They will process refunds to be approved for submission through the refund system. They are responsible for resolving cashier suspense credits by moving funds to appropriate invoices. This position is responsible for maintaining several spreadsheets for accurate accounting of all refunds processed.

Required Qualifications
Education:      A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:    A minimum of three (3) years of general office experience.

At least 90 days of service at TTUHSC as a Medical Billing Associate Trainee and a current performance appraisal with a rating of meeting or exceeding expectations.
