Position Description
This position is responsible for the direction and supervision of Medical Billing Associates and the various aspects of maintenance of patient billing accounts. This position supervises patient registration, insurance follow-up and collection, financial screening of unfunded patients, responses to patient billing inquiries, collection of patient payments, posting of payments and rejections, and other related activities.

Major/Essential Functions
* Interviews and recommends hires, evaluates, and trains new employees. * Reviews work product and processes in areas of responsibility on a daily basis. * Coordinates information for reporting purposes. * Establishes goals for areas of responsibility. * Researches systems or processing issues and oversees the implementation of solutions. * Participates in the revision and implementation of new policies and procedures for area of responsibility. * Assists clinical departments with issues related to area of responsibility. * Responsible for providing any additional training for existing employees and assessing training needs.

Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel spreadsheets, 10-Key by touch, basic accounting principles.  Knowledge of major insurance carriers.

Reconciling daily deposits, daily bank statements and monthly Trust Fund.  Processing refund checks.  Processing returned checks.  Maintaining property inventory for the office.  Purchasing supplies for the office.  Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
+Education:+ * A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
+Experience:+ * At least five (5) years of office experience with three (3) of those years in billing or collections. * At least two (2) years of supervisory experience, leading a team of two or more people. 
OR
* At least three (3) years work experience in the Medical Billing Associate program at TTUHSC and documented completion of supervisory training courses and a current performance appraisal with a rating of meeting or exceeding expectations.
