Position Description
Manages a sub unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures. Represents the sub unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Maintain Presswise software for backend and customer interface.
  • Ensure paper and supplies are listed accurately in the Presswise system. Train users in the system. Set up users in system, assign appropriate rights, request needed access, train new and existing users in proper software operation. 
  • Develop XML code for templates. Troubleshoot and correct any non-functioning code to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Train printing center staff on simple XML coding for templates. Resize template elements in Adobe InDesign. Ensure all templates meet all institutional standards. 
  • Reviews estimates on complex projects. Monitors and maintains pricing structure in Management and Estimating System. Establishes rates for new equipment and/or processes. Ensures all rates in system are calculating properly. Compares internal prices to market prices and actual costs.
  • Bills all Printing Center Work Orders.
  • Checks orders for quality, consistency and inclusion of all applicable charges. Monitors approvals, reprints, no charge, and controllable errors. Audits data for validity prior to upload. Troubleshoot errors and implement resolutions. Ensures no work is performed without a work order and all work orders properly accounted for.
  • Maintains contact with customers in person or electronically to initiate sales for work to be performed and customer input of orders, resolves issues, provides advice on paper stock, color, and graphics.
  • Responsible for marketing the HSC Printing Center and related services. Assist in developing and updating web site content and integrating with customer ordering portal. Maintain customer data base of email and mailing addresses and applicable variable data/demographic info.
  • Handles all details of marketing and procuring promotional items.
  • Coordinates with customers on printing needs.
  • Meets with designated staff and supervisor. Sets priorities and goals for resource utilization; monitors, evaluates and adjusts allowing for continuous improvement of quality and services. Consults with staff on printing and other assigned services. Takes proactive steps to cover upcoming events, conflicts, workloads, holidays, leaves, or other foreseeable influences on operations.
  • Hires staff: Posts position, screens, interviews, and recommends best candidate for the position. Communicates all changes with supervisor and ensures appropriate ePAF's and other documentation completed in a timely manner. Train, coach, and develop staff.

  • * Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualization and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
    * Ability to effectively use a computer as a tool and a resource to complete job functions with knowledge of functions and capabilities and experience utilizing various software including but not limited to Microsoft Office products. 
    * Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others through leadership, verbal and written communication, and personal conduct. 
    * Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing training and supervision as needed. 
    * Ability to understand and follow instructions.

    * Verifiable prior experience working with variable data especially in processing bulk mailings in accordance with current USPS regulations.
    * XML Code experience within cloud based customer portal.
    * Verifiable commercial printing sales and production experience.
    * Verifiable promotional product sales and ordering experience.
    * Verifiable prior retail, customer service, and supervisory experience. 
    * Knowledgeable of both PC and Mac systems in a networked commercial printing.
    * Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
    * Knowledgeable of all Adobe Creative Suite programs and able to interact with graphic designers on an advanced level.
    * Mechanical aptitude, extremely organized, superior communications ability (written and oral).

Pay Statement
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with two years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal six years.
