Position Description
Performs administrative and supervisory law enforcement work for the Department of Police Services. Responsible for direction, planning, organizing, staffing, training, and control of all members under his/her command.

Major/Essential Functions
Manage police administration, patrol, or investigations and related law enforcement activities.  

Coordinates and supervises special activities or events on campus requiring additional support from division or contract with outside law enforcement agencies.  

Completes special projects by representing the department on committees and in meetings, coordinating activities with departments, staff and the public.  

Provides staff assistance to assigned Police Captain; prepares and presents staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary; prepares a variety of reports and makes presentations. 

Testify in court to present evidence or act as witness in traffic and criminal cases.  

Reviews a variety of police related reports prepared by subordinate officers or others.  

Assumes the duties of a Captain in the Captain's absence when directed.  

Receive and record complaints and commendations about departmental personnel.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Police Science or related field plus six (6) years experience in law enforcement; OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal ten (10) years.  Possession of a valid Class C Texas Driver's license.  Possession of certification as a Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
