Position Description
Performs specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of assigned area. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to area, making recommendations and assisting in implementation of projects. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
This position is with the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health (FMHIRCH)
  • Acts as lead statistician on complex research projects and across multiple studies related to FMHIRCH.
  • Provides methodological and statistical guidance for FMHIRCH research activities.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical materials in mathematical or diagram form and deal with a several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Serves as a consultant / instructor / mentor to other bio-statisticians, researchers and students
  • Conducts or assists with the preparation and submission of funding proposals.
  • Prepares articles, presentations and research reports regarding the FMHIRCH research activities.
  • Presents research projects at state and national conferences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in statistics, MPH with a concentration in biostatistics or other job related field plus three years’ experience in advanced biostatistics; OR a combination of education with emphasis on biostatistical analysis, research protocol design, and/or related experience to equal seven years. Two years research experience; knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources and standards thereof.Strong writing experience.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with best practice in medical research and epidemiology.
  • Must possess effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in SPSS, SAS, etc.
  • Extensive publications in peer-reviewed journals.
