Position Description
Delivers psychological services to patients of TTUHSC. Work involves providing care to patients including assessment of patients' psychological needs, assessments, formation of individual treatment plans and conducting individual and group therapy modalities. Assists in the management and supervision of Master's prepared psychologists and doctoral level graduate students. The incumbent in this position will support the Service Plus philosophy of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Major/Essential Functions
Employee will be required to provide psychotherapy to patients of the TTUHSC SON Combest Central Community Health Center (CCCHC). Work involves being a member of a healthcare team that provides healthcare to patients which include the following duties and responsibilities:
 
  • Provides psychological assessment and diagnosis, as well as formation of individual treatment plans for patients.
  • Provides short term evidence based psychotherapeutic interventions to patients referred by primary care providers.
  • Conducts assessment interviews to gain information about the individual's life to determine current mental functioning, suitability for procedures and develops formal assessments for use in diagnosis and treatment plan formulation.
  • Administers and interprets objective psychological testing instruments including those designed to measure functioning in areas of clinical specialty.
  • Provides individual and group educational activities to patients and delivers behavioral therapy services.
  • Collaborates with patients to develop individualized program of health promotion and self-management.
  • Educates patients about health care and treatment options, programs, and resources.
  • Initiates the coordination, scheduling  and delivery of psychological services.
  • Participates as an active member the inter-professional collaborative practice team (IPCP).
  • Models the TTUHSC Value Based Culture.
  • Ensures compliance with specialty area licensing Board, TTUHSC policies, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Meets departmental productivity standards.

Preferred Qualifications
    Prefer a candidate with a doctorate in psychology and 3 plus years experience in the field.  
  • Have successfully completed a doctoral Ph.D. program in specialty area (psychology) and hold a valid license which allows employee to practice in the state of Texas. Licensed to practice Psychology in Texas by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

  • Three plus years experience working with patients experiencing chronic pain conditions.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of confidentiality and understand federal laws related to HIPAA.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population.

  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Experience documenting and retrieving information in electronic health records (EHR).

  • Experience managing patient caseloads and submitting patient charting by deadlines identified by the department.

  • Experience with software EHR, word, excel, and outlook applications.

  • Experience generating patient data for grant reporting requirements, PI, QI, and assessment.

  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills.

  • BLS certified.

  • Communicate effectively in English and Spanish to meet patient needs of the clinic.

  • Experience making patient referrals.

  • Experience organizing data concerning patient's family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from patient, relative, and other sources such as other medical health related professionals.

Required Qualifications
Education and Experience Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited college, university or school of professional psychology. Three years experience working with patients experiencing chronic pain conditions. An applicant whose doctoral degree was received before January 1, 1979 must have received either a doctoral degree in psychology, or the substantial equivalent of a doctoral degree in both subject matter and extent of training, from a regionally accredited educational institution. License Licensed to practice Psychology in Texas by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists or have the ability to transfer license to Texas. An applicant whose doctoral degree was received before January 1, 1979 must have received either a doctoral degree in psychology, or the substantial equivalent of a doctoral degree in both subject matter and extent of training, from a regionally accredited educational institution. Certification in biofeedback equipment, techniques and procedures is preferred.
