Position Description
Manages a sub unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures. Represents the sub unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major/Essential Functions
Direct and coordinate day to day tasks of front office staff at Texas Tech Eye Clinic (HSC location).
Supervises 6-7 direct reports. Administrative supervisory functions such as: update position descriptions, perform employee evaluations, engage in disciplinary process when warranted, maintain employee records (time clock approvals, leave requests) for subordinates.

Hiring, training and coaching assigned staff and monitor staff's performance at HSC.

Establish and ensure compliance with front desk process and procedure. 

Develop training materials for staff and ensure staff are adequately trained on all processes and procedures.

Ensure insurance verification is performed according to clinic process. Stay up to date with changes in carrier regulations and requirements

Communicate changes in process and policy to staff. Follow up with staff to ensure processes are being completed accurately.

Address patient complaints, physicians' and other healthcare providers' concerns/complaints regarding service and operational issues.

Ensure point of service collections is accurate and consistent.

Answer incoming calls to the clinic. 

Control scheduling of daily appointments.

Check patients in/out of the clinic - including collecting co-pays and scheduling follow up appointments.

Display a team oriented attitude. Lead by example.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a medical office front desk position with supervisory experience. 
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Knowledge of general administrative procedures that apply to functions such as personnel, payroll, and purchasing. 
Excellent ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
Ability to exercise judgment in unusual or new situations, and able to exercise discretion when processing confidential material.
