Position Description
Performs administrative and coordinative work in direct support of an academic officer, including such functions as planning, budgeting, supervision and program implementation and evaluation. Performs responsible and complex office support duties, thus relieving the administrator of these duties. Work is performed under administrative supervision with evaluation based on results obtained.

Serves as the principal clerical and administrative support position to an administrative officer.  Work is performed under general supervision from the administrator.  Direct supervision of subordinate personnel may be included in the job responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Maintain confidential and routine records for the Regional Dean's including all faculty files.
  • Initiate and respond to routine correspondence, as requested.
  • Arrange Regional Dean's meetings, travel and maintain calendar. Complete appropriate travel forms for the Regional Dean and faculty traveling on Regional Dean's business.  Schedule meetings; provide agendas.
  • Maintain frequent contact with public, other administrators, faculty, staff, and students.  Arrange meetings and details related to general public, HSC, University, city and state dignitaries and guests.
  • Compiles information for professional reports and manuals.
  • Attend necessary meetings and/or serve on committees.
  • Work closely with the Regional Dean of the School of Nursing to coordinate the completion of projects related to local advisory groups, alumni, and recruiting events, as well as request for information, etc.
  • Provide for overall office organization.
  • Compile records and student service needs for those students coming to class at the Regional campus.
  • Provide administrative support to distance faculty as needed, in concert with appointed staff at the Lubbock campus.
  • Maintain records and appropriate supplies for recruiting activities within the Regional campus.
  • Assists in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of an Advisory Committee for the SON Abilene campus.

Preferred Qualifications
Computer proficiency, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access.  Good office skills, tact, ability to work under pressure, ability to maintain confidentiality, work with a variety of personalities, self-confidence, good organizational skills,  mature, ability to meet long and short-term deadlines, attention to details.  Ability to recognize the need for assistance to meet project requirements/deadlines.  Minimum typing speed of 60 WPM.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years progressively responsible administrative experience including one year of supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or experience to equal seven years.
