Position Description
The Enterprise Network Support Technician I’s scope of responsibility includes providing technical installation and primary support for data, voice, video, or other specialized networks at the enterprise level. Discretion and sound judgment is expected. Enterprise positions are restricted for use in central IT Division areas reporting to the institutional CIO and, as such, may interface with key IT leadership and/or other functional leadership from the Texas Tech University System institutions.

Major/Essential Functions
The Enterprise Network Support Technician’s scope of responsibility includes technical installation and support for data, voice, video, or other specialized networks at the enterprise level. 
With limited supervision and/or assistance from team members, performs one or more of the following duties:
* Designs, installs, maintains, and diagnoses the various components of network cable plants and related infrastructure.
* Provides technical support.
* Administers or configures certain network equipment and devices.
* Performs other duties according to established procedures and standards.
* May interface with users, vendors, or other stakeholders.
* May interface with key IT leadership and/or other functional leadership from the Texas Tech University System institutions.
* Adheres to all appropriate Institutional policies (including IT OPs) and other relevant internal departmental policies.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: Associate Degree in related field and one year documented qualifying experience in related field or one-year experience in an educational/medical setting.                                                                                                                                                                                         
Working knowledge of television master control operations. Ability to operate video recording and playback equipment; perform technical setup and operation of audio, video, routing, switching, and related equipment in the TechLink network control facilities according to accepted "on air" broadcast standards; perform setup, functional checking, and operation of distance learning classroom, telemedicine, and satellite systems; grasp the concept of networks, systems, and individual equipment items as collections of interdependent parts functioning together to perform a specified task or group of tasks. This is essential in order to be able to recognize and pinpoint malfunctions, perform or assist in restoration actions, and properly configure network components to support on air events.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making techniques.
Ability to exercise initiative and ingenuity in dealing with day-to-day operations issues.
Ability to work well with individuals at all levels.
