Position Description
Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Direct strategic planning, operations, finance, and assessment for all areas within the Office of Student Life.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and provide ongoing professional development for Student Life’s full-time staff members and student assistants.
  • Direct public relations/communication/marketing plan for Student Life, including events, web design, social media, and print materials; maintain open and consistent communication with each of TTUHSC’s Schools and other key stakeholders.
  • Serve in an advisory capacity to all registered student organizations on their activities and projects. Ensure all activities comply with TTUHSC policies and procedures, the Student Handbook, and the SGA Funding Handbook.
  • Serve as advisor to the Student Government Association; provide guidance on official documents, funding allocations, meeting agendas, legislation, and campus activities.
  • Oversee all aspects of the TTUHSC-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan; upload needed data, liaise with Academic Health Plans, the Executive Student Affairs Workgroup, and other stakeholders, create communication for Schools and students.
  • Actively engage in the student life/student affairs profession in order to update knowledge on current issues in the field, learn new ideas, and develop strong contacts. 
  • Serve as orientation coordinator for HSC Student Affairs (HSC SA); liaise between TTUHSC’s Schools and the five areas within HSC Student Affairs.
  • Provide support to the Office of the Provost and the Assistant Provost for Student Affairs on special projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree in higher education or closely related field. 
At least five years progressively responsible, experience in student affair/student life, or related field.
Ability to conceptualize and prioritize objectives, exercise effective judgment, and organize work effectively.
