Position Description
Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Supports the Service Plus Philosophy of Texas Tech University Health Science Center.
  • Oversee Patient Services to include supervision of daily operations and personnel.
  • Oversee Medical Social Workers to include supervision of daily operations and personnel.
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of Behavioral Health clinical scheduling through communication with TTUHSC administrators, physicians and TDCJ personnel.
  • Responsible for EHR at unit level to include oversight of Patient Services, Provider and Clinician schedules QI auditing processes, training and management of the EMR system.
  • Communicates with team members and supervisor for adequate information exchange to fulfill Access To Care goals/standards.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with physicians, allied healthcare providers and affiliated hospitals.
  • Performs as a responsible and cooperative team member. Adheres to standards of discipline and/or discipline.
  • Exercises creative approaches to communication and problem solving. Deals with conflict and problematic situations in an open and tactful manner.
  • EHR Coordination/Maintenance: Implement, update and maintain the Electronic Health Record for Patient Services including coordinating with TDCJ Health Services, TTU facilities and EHR staff.
  • Participate in Administration meetings and/or committees as needed to represent the Patient Services, Hospital Social Workers, and Behavioral Health department.
  • Develops and maintains scheduling of Behavioral Health Clinics.
  • Oversees Ward Clerks and Hospital Social Workers.

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with others while engaged in unusually difficult or involved work. Manage support staff in a clinical setting and the ability to work in a busy environment and perform multitasks. Skills necessary to function in position include organizational, managerial, planning, training, computer, auditing (Microsoft Word and Excel), typing, filing, and general office procedures. Experience in a correctional setting working under managed care concepts and principles preferred.

Masters degree in a human services field (Psychology, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work) w/applicable state licensure.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
