Position Description
Performs specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of assigned area. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to area, making recommendations and assisting in implementation of projects. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
The Lead Analyst- Contracts Specialist is responsible for assisting with overall processing and monitoring of all  contracts related to clinical trials for TTUHSC from external sources.   

Responsibilities include the following:
  • facilitating the review and approval of clinical trial contracts as well as material transfer, confidentiality and other research-related agreements;
  • negotiating budgets for clinical trial contracts;
  • serving as liaison between faculty, staff, and outside funders on contracts related matters including negotiating and ensuring terms comply with TTUHSC requirements; 
  • serving as a reviewer of award terms and conditions, and working with the department clinical research coordinators or the Clinical Research Institute in adjusting the Scope of Work and Budget sections of the contract, as required;
  • securing review and approval from the Office of General Counsel for applicable documents;
  • providing assistance in developing and revising policies and procedures;
  • preparing internal reports regarding contract administration activities;
  • assisting with the development and presentation of training materials;
  • serving as a mentor and training resource for department technical and administrative staff;
  • entering and tracking all contract activity;
  • continually seeks opportunities to improve contracting processes as well as improve customer service.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Contract Law, research trends in Academic Health Centers, and Federal and State research regulatory guidelines. Proficient in computer applications used for word processing, presentation, publication, spreadsheet, database and contract management.
