Position Description
Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Manage coding and billing staff including but not limited to, supervising, onboarding, training, mentoring, coaching and evaluating.
  • Identify trends, changes and regulatory compliance topics to disseminate to the appropriate stakeholders. 
  • Manage and maintain institutional service to posting standards as set forth by the School of Medicine and the Department.
  • Adheres to all Institutional Operating Policies and Procedures including School of Medicine Ambulatory, Department of Obstetrics + Gynecology, Office of Institutional Compliance Policies and Procedures.

Work Location

Preferred Qualifications
  • AAPC Certified Professional Coding Instructor (CPC-I). 
  • ICD10-CM Training and/or Certification. 
  • Knowledge and experience in understanding requirements to implement necessary ICD-10 tasks and developing and performing assessments and plans of action.
  • Five + years of healthcare experience operating in a leadership role within a healthcare organization.
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology experience preferred. 
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills.
