Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions. May be stressful when working under emergency conditions.
Complete patient intake, answer patient's questions or find the appropriate person to answer the questions. Escort patient to check out.
Schedule EKG, Treadmill Stress Test, 24 Holter Monitor, 30 day Cardiac Event Monitor as ordered by provider. Instruct, perform or apply on patient as needed.
Assist physician with visit, exam or procedures as needed.
Report data or alterations in patient responses to license personnel.
Work together with clinical nurse to ensure patient's scheduled for clinic have appropriate orders completed.
Process testing reports to referring physicians and outside reports/test to be read by Cardiologist to include Montford and Lubbock State Supported Living Center
Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and equipment is available for diagnostic and treatment procedures.
Schedule patients (new or return) when requested
Acquire needed information from patient's clinical chart or shadow chart when patient calls, leaves message, request med refill, fax, etc.
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty.
Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed.
2 years directly related experience.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Familiarity with medical equipment; knowledge of principles and applications of the ethics; legal requirements and terminology within the area of specialty.
Ability to take dictation.
Ability to accurately transcribe dictation.
Manual dexterity necessary for clinical and laboratory procedures.
