Position Description
Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions. May be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Communicates patient data using EMR to support decision-making to improve patient care.
  • Takes accurate vital signs and measurements.
  • Assists with exams and procedures and documents intervention in EMR per departmental policy.
  • Sterilizes and disinfects medical equipment and instruments as directed.
  • Prepares necessary equipment and instruments for examinations,treatments and procedures as directed.
  • Manages inventory of supplies and coordinates with other Nurses for materials at other stations in addition to maintaining inventory of supplies in examination/treatment rooms.
  • Maintains cleanliness of examination/treatment rooms.
  • Creates an environment of continuous information flow to Providers and follows direction of Providers' orders.
  • Receive incoming calls for the clinic.
  • Prepare schedule of daily appointments for distribution as necessary and notifying clinic staff of any changes.
  • Assists patients with applications and forms.
  • Receipts payments for clinic services.
  • Receiving/checking out patients.
  • Communication with Physicians and Nursing regarding clinic changes.
  • Contacting patients (referring physician) who have missed appointments.
  • Maintaining and updating referrals.
  • Maintaining required files in clinic.
  • Accurately keeps logs on moneybag and deposits.
  • Operates IDX and Powerchart systems in a proficient manner.
  • Providing excellent customer service to anyone that calls or walks into the clinic.
  • Assists patients with problems concerning insurance.
  • Obtains and checks all demographic and billing information and makes corrections as necessary.
  • Takes accurate vital signs and measurements.

Required Qualifications
  •  A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. 

  • Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty.
  • Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed.
