Position Description
Performs specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of assigned area. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to area, making recommendations and assisting in implementation of projects. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgement in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
Performs specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of projects assigned to the Revenue Cycle Unit (RCU) of the Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI). Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to revenue cycle management (RCM) project assignments, making recommendations and assisting in implementation with latitude for independent judgment as provided by the Revenue Cycle Program Director and/or OSI senior leadership. The Revenue Cycle Chief Analyst's responsibilities include analytical review of healthcare revenue cycle activities and processes, to include developing analysis and reporting capabilities, and continuously monitoring performance and quality control plans to identify revenue opportunities and improvements. This position is accountable for preparing and providing financial and narrative reports to facility departments, divisions, programs, providers, as well as organizational leadership and staff.
  • Assists in the collection, verification and coordinates timely completion of all data input. Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reporting
  • Either alone, or in collaboration with the OSI's Business Intelligence/Programming Unit, develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex revenue cycle and billing systems. Daily focus on attaining productivity standards, recommending new approaches for enhancing performance and productivity, when appropriate.
  • Review billing and facility system reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct billing issues and revenues cycles delay problems.
  • Works closely with RCM Unit and OSI leadership to prioritize business and informational needs.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Works to understand and improve knowledge and comprehension of databases.
  • Accurately document actions taken in the system and department of record to drive effective follow-up and ensure an accurate audit trial.
  • Works to improve data quality processes and report design to meet diverse and changing needs for management and project reporting.
  • Participate in the development of training materials.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain a high level of satisfaction and motivation within project team members.
  • Assumes other duties as directed.

Preferred Qualifications
Position Specific Qualifications:
  • Minimum of one (1) year related work experience in project management and revenue cycle capacity in a professional organization.
  • Two (2) years demonstrated professional experience in a Analyst role.
  • Strong communication skills both written, verbal and presentation.
  • Creativity, critical-thinking, and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Highly skilled utilizing Microsoft Office products and applications with particular emphasis in Excel and Access.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

(1) Master's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, IT or a related area.
(2) Three (3) or more years experience with Revenue Cycle operations management, consulting and/or project management experience 
in a healthcare-related environment.
(3) Three (3) or more years of analytical experience preferably in a healthcare-related environment or higher ed.
