Position Description
Performs specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of assigned area. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to area, making recommendations and assisting in implementation of projects. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgement in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions

Develops Cognos edits and reports for HR functional and departmental users.

Creates ad hoc reports for HR management and end users.
 
Creates relational and dimensional models through the use of SQL and Framework Manager for ease of reporting.

Develops Cognos Models to streamline report writing
 
Tests Cognos and ODS upgrades to ensure existing Cognos models, reports and edits are maintained.
 
Maintain and develop data visualization tools for TTUHSC
 
Provide data and analytic support.

Conduct strategic data analysis, identify insights and implications from TTUHSC employee data and make strategic recommendations to senior staff. 
 
Consults and collaborates with HR functional staff and TTU System IT and/or TTUHSC IT areas to develop new technologies to meet current and future business needs. e.g. testing, implementing, and maintaining web applications and mobile applications.
 
Stays abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies, including scripting, security issues, authoring tools, graphic design tools and new languages.
 
Coordinates Cognos HR functional security access for HSC Human Resources team members and other select HSC functional department 'Employment Verification' users. 
 
Assists with HRIS/Banner related functions as needed, e.g. patch/upgrade testing, multiple ID resolution, and Banner-related security maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications
Position Specific Qualifications:

Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or other relevant discipline.

Demonstrate competency in data collection, analysis, data visualization, reporting, modeling, and dissemination of information.

Strong background in reporting and database tools: COGNOS/Framework Manager, SQL Developer, SQL Server, Power BI.

Proficient in building statistical models using programming languages such as R or Python

Knowledge and understanding of the following: HTML, JavaScript; C#, VB.Net, XML, .NET development tools, working knowledge of Banner preferred

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or other relevant discipline with at least two years related experience.

Demonstrated abilities in analytical reasoning and logical problem solving.

Ability to gather user requirements, analyze and propose solutions.

Ability to take a proposed solution from a conceptual idea to development and implementation for real world use. 

Ability to work independently with limited supervision. 

Ability to effectively communicate technical and nontechnical information to technical and nontechnical users.
