Position Description
Performs specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of assigned area. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing and developing data relative to area, making recommendations and assisting in implementation of projects. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgement in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Manage both pre- and post-award processes of external grant funding to include: developing budgets for grant applications; submitting new fund requests, budget revisions, labor redistributions, labor projections, cost transfers, grant and fund close out.
  • Assist with the inquiries related to any departmental accounting and financial problems and / or issues related to external grant funding. Provides guidance to shoppers to ensure purchases are allowable on the grant being used.
  • Review and analyze external grant fund activity and appropriate accounting practices and prepare financial reports and documents.
  • Monitors, updates and closes purchases as required, including increasing or decreasing encumbrances.
  • Assist the Senior Director of Biomedical Sciences with he financial oversight of the Department of Biomedical Sciences external grant funding.
  • For institutional funds (i.e. state local, gift), performs data entry such as processing payments, new fund requests, budget revisions, labor redistributions, cost transfers, etc. Handles inquiries related to any accounting and financial problems and/or issues.  Provides solutions consistent with institutional and relevant governing policies.
  • Prepare, generate, distribute and track monthly statements for Grant Fund Managers.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure ongoing operations of the Biomedical Sciences Department.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in related area plus five years of relevant experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred bachelors degree or higher in finance or accounting. Experience working in higher education. Experience in working with grant management and other funds to include forecasting, reconciliation, and oversight.
