| Oversee management of daily operations at TTUHSC vivaria over multiple campuses in an AAALAC - accredited program. Assists Director in maintaining regulatory compliance and developing improvements in departmental customer service to facilitate institutional research goals.|
| Assist LARC Director with departmental vivarium operations including staffing, inventory supply and maintenance. When possible, suggest and develop processes to streamline operations and effectively utilize funds. Provide input on capital equipment needs.|
Address research staff needs and concerns and promote good relations through a customer service-oriented culture.
Assist and participate in training of LARC staff, research staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and vendor/maintenance personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
| Bachelor's degree in a related field required plus six years hands-on vivarium management experience.|
Specific knowledge of and experience with common vivarium equipment including Cage Washers, Bottle Washers, Autoclave, IVC's, Biosafety cabinets, etc.
Demonstrated ability to train husbandry and research staff.
| DVM with at least 1-2 years experience in laboratory animal medicine and operations.|
Bachelor's Degree with at least 7-10 years' experience in laboratory animal operations, including hands-on rodent facility management, staff training, animal handling, and facility maintenance in an academic environment.
Veterinary Technician with at least 10 years experience, 1-3 years of which are in an academic/research environment.
Research animal handling, care, and health evaluation experience in AAALAC-accredited facilities.
Demonstrated supervisory experience with dedication to employee success and the ability to lead by example.
Ability to write and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
Ability to multi-task, pro-actively identify problems, and suggest work flow improvements as well as flexibility to adapt quickly to a dynamic work requirement.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Positive, friendly attitude and solid work ethic.
Working knowledge of administrative computer software such Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of industry-specific software such as iMedris/iRIS, WatchDog, Pulse, and others.
