Major/Essential Functions
Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, patient care, research and service. Medical practice of general internal medicine. Teaching residents and medical students. This position is responsible for inpatient and outpatient medical care. This includes examination of patients, ordering x-rays and laboratory tests to help make an accurate diagnosis, and planning and execution of treatment. Adhere to institutional and departmental policies and procedure.

Required Qualifications
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.

  • Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with an M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Must have a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas or eligible for Texas medical licensure.
  • Must have or be eligible for certificate(s) for prescribing controlled substances.
  • Must have three years of post-graduate training in primary care medicine.
