Position Description
Performs moderately heavy manual work in the care and maintenance of grounds including the care and maintenance of plants, shrubs, lawns, and the installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems.

Major/Essential Functions
1. Installs, maintains, operates and repairs building systems and associated equipment.
2. Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of other building systems.
3. Prepare and submit work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system (e.g. directories), etc.
4. Install and maintain special systems and equipment such as landscaping clocks and irrigation systems. Upkeeps, plants and maintain landscaping, live material and cleaning of external facilities.
5. Performs all preventive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment.
6. Coordinates and assists with contracted and external service work.
7. Contributes with knowledge and skilled labor to upkeep, maintain and repair landscaping systems, clean sidewalks, clean parking lots, perform parking markings and install plants/shrubs/trees for the institution.
8. Responds to work related radio and pager calls, actively participates in special weather respond teams.
9. Actively participates and completes training, personal development and continuing education.
10. Performs other related and various job duties as assigned.
11. Must have and maintain valid state of Texas Drivers License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by risk management and insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee criminal background check.
12. Responds to emergency calls to correct or remediate the problem.
13. Responsible for keeping all work areas, equipment and tools clean and in excellent working conditions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, basic knowledge and ability to install, operate and maintain building systems and associated equipment. Skilled in the proper use of tools, equipment and devices used in the construction and maintenance trade. Knowledge of occupational and safety hazards in the trade. Responsible for wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and follow processes to prevent accidents. Able to work and respond on weekends, holidays and after hours as required by the institution, basic understanding of other trades and able to perform or assist in the completion of assigned tasks.

Assist with coordination of tasks and teams with other facility staff or outside vendors to complete assigned duties.
