Position Description

Analyzes and coordinates office services such as personnel, budget preparation and control, fiscal affairs, equipment utilization, records control, and special management studies.

Major/Essential Functions

Revise as needed the annual billing compliance education under guidance from Billing Compliance Director; post the education; notify clinical departments of the education on ACME; schedule and present as requested in- person training to clinical departments; track completion of the training.
Present billing compliance education to new providers ; approve billing numbers for new providers after completion of orientation. Communicate with departments as needed regarding the status of their new provider; complete the orientation process.
Review documentation new providers within 90 days after completing New Provider Orientation; provide feedback to the provider and department leaders on outcome and areas for improvement; Monitor overpayments.
Provide necessary information to UMC Medical Staff for credentialing purposes.
Assist in review and provide input on revision of existing and development of new Billing Compliance policies and Compliance Operational policies.
Assist in conducting risk audits; assist as directed in preparing timely and accurate written reports of findings and provide follow up education as required; monitor corrective actions
Assist in conducting oversight audits of documentation and billing.
Active participation in the development of the annual OIC risk assessment and subsequent work plan as related to identifying billing risks and actions (monitoring and auditing) to mitigate such risks.
Maintain familiarity and stay current with coding conventions, changes in payer rules/regulations and TTUHSC Billing Compliance Program requirements. Maintain current coding certification. Participate in education and training on coding.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in job related field plus one year of related experience; OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal five (5) years.

Preferred Qualifications

Current and active professional coding certification required from an accredited organization.
Two or more years billing and coding experience in a multi-specialty group practice and/or academic practice setting is required.
Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in a healthcare environment with two or more of those years directly involved in coding of health care services.
Ability to travel as needed.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; write and present ideas and information in concise, clear manner.
Meet deadlines and accomplish departmental goals.
Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check, as well as not be listed on the HHSOIG, Texas Medicaid, GSA or other exclusion/sanctions list.

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
